Kelli van Ginhoven

Kelli is a true Yooper with a lifelong commitment to her community. She understands the work it takes to build a future our children deserve here in the Upper Peninsula. Kelli currently serves on the Delta County Board of Commissioners, taking her seat after organizing a successful community wide recall against 3 MAGA commissioners. As a Commissioner, Kelli serves as chair of the Personnel Committee and member of the Negotiations Committee where she works to ensure fair wages for public employees, as well the Opioid Taskforce, Delta Conservation District and Airport Advisory Board. Kelli has also served as vice chair of the Escanaba Downtown Development Authority and the Escanaba Planning Commission. Before entering politics, Kelli built, owned, and operated a successful small business, For the Love of Cupcakes, right in her hometown of Escanaba. Kelli and her husband, Bjorn, have three adult daughters, Zoe, Claire, and Emily, instilling them with the same values and sense of community they grew up with. Kelli comes from generations of labor union workers who helped build Michigan. Kelli’s goal is simple and her priorities are clear: Make Michigan tax dollars start working for Yoopers again. She knows what it’s like when the UP thrives and she knows what we need to build the future: sustainable rural healthcare, expanding in skilled trades education and promotion of labor unions within the clean energy revolution, overhauling the mental healthcare system, and investing in our public school infrastructure along with teacher support. Kelli has the experience, skills, and heart to get the tough work done for every Yooper.
